Frequently Asked Questions
What can I do on the trip that’s included in the price?
Ans. You can do everything listed on the website without any extra charges. Swim, tube, sightsee, etc. time permitting of course. For all off vessel activities you choose to participate in, we require a risk liability waiver to be signed on the boat prior to the activity.
2. What is the average length of a tour that people schedule?
Ans. In the summer, the most popular tour length is 3 hours. It will allow you to do most everything. including, swimming, tubing, and visiting the cliffs. If you have 10-12 people, that many might require more time, especially for tubing. In the spring and fall, the average sightseeing tour is 2.5 hours.
3. What can I bring on board?
Ans. Feel free to bring food and your choice of beverages on the boat. Alcohol is permitted for persons over 21. Should you bring alcohol on board please limit your intake so as not to cause you or anyone else harm.
4. Do you have life jackets?
Ans. Yes we have plenty of life jackets. The boats are fully licensed, insured and inspected public vessels (PV)
We are required by the State to have PF 1 jackets for all on board. Please let us know if you have infants or young children. We have additional vest life jackets for tubing and swimming and will supply accordingly.
5. Can I cancel my appointment?
Ans. Yes please see the cancellation policy on the website. You can cancel with a full refund up to 48 hours prior to your tour. Within 48 hours if you cancel without rescheduling, if a time is available, you may be charged 50%of your tour rate, as we have already committed the boat and Captain and most likely have turned down other clients for that time slot. If you cancel on the day of your tour, you will be charged 100% of your tour cost. If weather is a problem on the day of your tour, the Captain will be in touch with you. ONLY DALEYS ADVENTURE BOAT TOURS CAN CANCEL A TOUR DUE TO WEATHER. The Captain will make the final decision (we are not interested in going out during complete rainy days either). Many times there may be a brief shower in one part of the lake and not the other. We do our best to avoid those rainy situations.
6. Can I pay cash?
Ans. Yes you may replace your credit card payment with cash on the day of your trip. We will then issue a credit on the credit card.
7. Should I tip the Captain?
Ans. This is your choice. However, 97% of our customers over the past several years do tip the Captain. Gratuity of 15%+ based on performance is customary and supplements their pay similar to; restaurant servers, limo drivers, hair stylists, as our Captains have worked hard for their licensing and required certifications.
8. Where do you go on the tour?
Ans. For Lake George, it’s 32 miles long and we spend a lot of the time in the southern half of the lake. The midpoint of the lake, called the narrows, is the favorite spot for most tours. It is not far from the town of Bolton landing and the famous Sagamore hotel. Should you decide you would like to swim that’s where the islands are. They’re called the Glen Island Group. Many tourists use the state owned Islands for camping. We then head south toward the village of Lake George where there are many places for swimming and tubing. Most of the mansions are on the west side of the lake. The stretch from Lake George Village to Bolton Landing is called Millionaires row.
For Lake Winnipesaukee, we go all over the lake depending on the length of the tour. However, most people typically stay on the southern two-thirds of the lake during tours. The sand bar in Paugus Bay is a common spot for swimming, along with Braun Bay for bachelor/bachelorette parties. Touring the coast around Governors Island is also very popular to see all the famous peoples homes, along other certain coast lines. A nice cruise through Sally’s Gut is also a very cool experience and heading over near Bear Island.
On Saratoga Lake, since the main lake is only 4 miles long we can tour the entire lake or the area of the lake called Fish creek is very interesting for seeing wildlife. We can travel a couple miles before turning around. Depending on the length of your tour will determine how much you can see. You can work with the captain during your tour to customize your trip.
9. Can you pick up at other motels on the lake ?
Ans. 95% of the people will get picked up at our marina. We will pick you up at another motel/restaurant, as long as they have a dock. As stated on the website there is an additional surcharge. Depending on where your pickup point is and how long it will take the captain to get there and of course back to our marina for the next scheduled tour, will determine your price. Usually between $75.00.and $100.00 additional. Please call for all appts with off site pickups.
10. Is there a minimum age?
Ans. There is no minimum age. We have had infants as young as 6 months on the boat. We have life jackets that will fit less than 20 lbs. feel free to bring your own as well.
11. How dangerous is tubing?
Ans. We have had 6 year old’s with an adult, in the tube. Everyone that rides the tube must be able to swim. We can go as fast or as slow as you would like within reason. Some people want the excitement of a faster trip with more waves and bounces while others want a nice relaxing tube ride. We are very concerned with your safety and the captain will do their best to accommodate your wishes. Slow is safe and the captain has the final say.
